Bringing Beautiful Flowers to Burscough, Rufford, Tarleton, Hesketh Bank & Beyond.
Here at Flower Farm Floristry, we’re proud to grow most of our flowers right here on our family-run arable farm in the hamlet of Tarlscough, just across the road from Martin Mere WWT. With open fields, rich fertile soil which can be argued is the best in the country, and a front-row seat to the changing seasons, it’s the perfect place to grow flowers, that is apart form the wind that never seems to stop blowing in from the coast at Southport which is our bugbear.
We hand deliver to a lovely stretch of West Lancashire—Burscough (where Clare lives), Rufford (Alison’s home), Tarleton, Hesketh Bank, Holmeswood, Mawdesley, Bispham Green, and the villages in between. Whether it’s a hand-tied bunch to say happy birthday, or something special for a wedding anniversary or memorial, we’re proud to bring beautiful blooms to the doorsteps of our locals.
Mostly Homegrown, Always Handpicked.
Most of the flowers in our arrangements are grown right here on the farm—picked fresh, wrapped by hand, and delivered by us. You’ll find seasonal favourites like tulips, cornflowers, sweet peas, dahlias, cosmos, and plenty of wild-style foliage that reflects the local landscape.
When we don’t have enough (especially in the colder months), we carefully source extra flowers from trusted British growers and, when needed, the worldwide flower market. This helps us make sure every bouquet is full, fresh and just right—while still keeping things as local and seasonal as possible.
A Bit About the Area
Our base isn’t just beautiful—it’s steeped in history. The rich soil of Tarleton and Hesketh Bank has been used for farming and market gardening for generations, famous for crops like tomatoes, lettuce and spring cabbage. Even today, the area is dotted with glasshouses and family farms that grow everything from flowers to vegetables.
Burscough and Rufford have their roots in canal and railway history—places that once bustled with agricultural trade along the Leeds Liverpool canal. In Rufford the canal boasts two fantastic cafes on the two marinas, and in Burscough the canal is home to The Wharf, a hive of lovely bars and restaurants. Martin Mere, right across from our farm, was once the largest lake in England before it was drained for farming centuries ago. Today, it’s a thriving wetland reserve which has just celebrated its 50th birthday—home to thousands of migrating birds and a daily source of inspiration for us. If you have young children we highly recommend it for its play areas, along with Windmill Animal Farm which is just a mile further away.
